Okay, somebody want to tell me where the past 8 months have gone? I can't believe that we'll be entering September, this week. Baseball is drawing to close, football is starting and I think I need to check on the rakes and snow blower. (this year I will plan ahead)
I have some great music on the show.
Garnett Mimms, Howard Tate, a new to FNST Tower Of Power, Stevie Wonder and more.
There are the requested artists, a little bit of R&B 501 and one of my favorite ballads to close the show. (Nope, you'll have to listen to find out)
As for current events............I don't know about y'all but I'm sick and tired of the old and lame trick of sowing hate and divisiveness. Isn't it about time this country stopped being influenced by fear?

The weather has turned a bit cooler. It won’t be long until I’m complaining about cold fingers, and that "s" word. There are only two months to my birthday and we always have flurries before then: One of the joys of living in northern "temperate" zones.
This week is loaded with great music. O’Jays, Steve Mancha, Sly Stewart like you’ve never heard him, Sea Cruz, a lot of other talented people and there’s even a tune by Arthur Prysock.
Our regular listeners have their requested artists and the birthday musicians are guaranteed to put a dip in your hip and a glide in your stride. All in all, it’s another fast two hours.
By the way, thank you for the compliments on last weeks’ "out of the box" show. Someone (Lesley) actually said the flow was great.
One other thing: I don’t normally comment on politics on this blog. It’s supposed to be about the music, after all. However, with the recent escalation in far right rhetoric and their attempted subversion of the Constitution and Bill Of Rights, I would urge all of you to check out the following. Listen to what Mr. Olbermann has to say and then think about the garbage coming from Faux News, Newt Gingrich, etc.

Thank You for reading and listening.
Enjoy the show.

A little bit "out of the box" for this show.
It's been 33 years since Elvis died.
That doesn't seem possible, does it?
Anyway, there are a few tunes from "The King" and I know that will make Crys, Barb and Ginger happy.
There is music from Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Paul Craver, The Drifters and Alive N' Kickin' to name a few. We also have the listener requested artists and birthday guests, as usual.
It's a pretty good mix and a quick two hours. I hope you enjoy it.

In Memoriam - Calvin "Fuzz" Jones
August 10, 2010 the blues world lost one of its great sidemen when bassist Calvin "Fuzz" Jones passed away at age 84 in Southaven, Mississippi.
Jones is probably best known for the years he spent touring as part of Muddy Waters' band in the '70s and '80s, a group that included Bob Margolin, Pinetop Perkins, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, James Cotton, among other great players. Jones also played with Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf, and Little Walter.Read more: http://blogcritics.org/music/article/calvin-fuzz-jones-longtime-muddy-waters/#ixzz0wI39tnRN
FNST Radio doesn't play a lot of blues but if you listen to as much music, in all genres, as we do then you knew who Calvin Jones was.

Y'know it never ceases to amaze me seeing the number of "hits" FNST Radio gets every week.
This blog gets read all over the world for many reasons. Some people pop in from a Google search of a performers' name, others seem to actually check back every week to see what's been updated.
As I look at the station logs and the records from here, it's cool to see the different places.
Now, if we had a few more people comment.......too much to ask huh?
Anyway, it's a pretty good show today. I hope y'all enjoy the music.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONNY SANDERS.
From Detroit's Ric-Tic Records to Chicago's Brunswick label and a lot of points inbetween Sonny left his mark on countless soul hits.
He worked with The Magnificent Men through most of their recording career and this is one of my all time favorites. Talk about showcasing vocal harmonies!
