November 29, 2010

It's the end of the month, already. I just looked and since we started this little project there have been over 200 entries, now we're closing in on the end of another year. *shaking head*

This weeks' show has birthdays. Some really great birthdays. Lou Rawls, Little Richard, Cassandra Wilson and more. This means there's also great music. "for it must follow as the night, the day....etc. etc."

There's also a special segment on a few Central Pennsylvania groups. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I enjoyed putting the thing together. It brought back some memories, let me tell you.

I'm waiting to hear how the "Class Act Salutes The Magnificent Men" concert went, this past Saturday night. As soon as I hear from a couple of people I'll let you know.

This week also begins some "sounds of the season" for FNST Radio. I'll be mixing in a couple of tunes each week. We'll start off with Thom Colson and his "Marry Little Christmas" with the great lead in for FNST.

Have a good week and I hope to "see" everybody next Monday.

November 16 - November 22 2010

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS:
The Carolina Beach Music Award winners, that is.

Rhonda McDaniel - female vocalist of the year
Craig Woolard - Male Vocalist of the year
Band of Oz - Group Album of the Year
Band of Oz - Song of the year "Dance To The Radio"
Jim Quick - Entertainer of the year.
Candi Staton - Pioneer Award

FNST Radio is proud to play music from these talented musicians. On November 22, I'll be playing cuts from all of the above along with our weekly birthday and requested artists.
Y'all are invited to join me at either 4:00am, 3:00pm, 8:00pm or 11:00pm EST for two great hours. Then again, you could make an entire day of it and listen all four times, LOL.

November 27th is Class Act featuring Rita's salute to The Magnificent Men. This is at The Whittaker Center in downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It will be Buddy King's last appearance so it means it's also the last chance to see four of the original seven members of TMM together on the same stage. You can check ticket prices and seating here:

Be sure to catch Buddy on lead for TMM on two great songs, this week: Two of my favorites.

I hope you have a great week and I'll see all of you Monday.

Take care of yourselves and each other.

November 15, 2010

The Carolina Beach Music Awards were this past weekend.
I probably won't know the winners until Tuesday but when I do, I will update for y'all.

This week's show has some great music and R&B 101. My voice is a bit of a wreck from this lovely cold so just ignore me. I'm into my third week with this thing and it is nasty. It just keeps hangin' on. I'll bet if I could get south for a week of sunshine and ocean air I'd get better :-)

There's not a lot going on in FNST's world but the holiday season is rapidly approaching.
Anybody have their shopping done? I don't either. We'll play some holiday music, this year but we won't start until the beginning of December and I can promise it's not going to be 24/7.
When your friends complain that all they hear on the radio is holiday stuff, point them our way.

Next week we'll have the Cammie winners and some other great music for you.

Take care of yourselves.........and each other.

November 8, 2010

First of all,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LES MARKEL!

It was actually November 7th which is tomorrow as I write this and maybe yesterday as y'all read it. (confused? me, too) Les is one talented musician and has been a friend for years.
I hope he has/had a great day.

Second thing, (thang if you prefer) the early time slot for Monday shows has been moved back to 4:00am EST. This allows the listeners in Melbourne, Australia and other parts of the far east to actually catch the show during their Monday evening hours. There's a 14 hour time difference between the east coast of the U.S. and Oz's Sydney/Melbourne sooooooo there you have it.

This week I have two weeks of "birthday guests" for you, a new "dumb criminal" segment, there's a listener participation thing and a bunch of great music. I hope you enjoy the show.

Now, it's onto the November 15th show, for me. I have music to select, bad puns to find and one awful cold to get rid of. Hopefully, I can find my voice before I have to go into the "blue cave" again.

Take care of yourselves.........and each other.
