It looks like we had a problem with Wednesday Night’s request show… sorry about that Mister Program Director.
Due to an overwhelming demand, from Ginger, the Wednesday Night Request Show will be repeated on October 23rd at the normally scheduled times….

V A C A T I O N

I'm on the Outer Banks, enjoying a bit warmer weather and, hopefully, sunshine.
We've had a pretty good year at FNST Radio. The listener base continues to grow,
even the blog gets read more every week. Now, it's time for me to re-charge my batteries and get ready for our 4th full year of providing great music.

October 19th and 26th and November 2nd are the normal Monday shows. It's a mix of "new" music, old favorites, the "weakly cereal" and birthdays.

October 21st is the Wednesday Request show featuring tunes you, the listener, have commented on and/or asked to hear more of. If this show continues or simply gets rolled into Mondays is a decision I'll be debating while I soak up sun and scotch. The mail box hasn't been exactly full, lately.

On November 9th I'll be back with a special Monday show. It's a birthday party for FNST! Who knows, maybe I can even con the Techie Gnome into coming along. It's a chance to look back at where we've come from and maybe figure out where we're going. The only thing that will never change is the music. It's got to have soul!

Hey there. There's some neat stuff on this weeks' show.

First, today (October 12) is Melvin Franklin's birthday.
So, we get to hear a couple of lead vocals by the greatest bass singer I ever heard.

We're 12 days away from the Class of 60 Somethin' Fall Party in York Pennsylvania
and that means I get to play Class Act featuring Rita, The Magnificent Men and Daddy C.

The Carolina Beach Music Awards are coming up, next month, so there's a bit of the Carolina Gang and then there's our "aged in soul" regular stuff.

All in all it's a busy show and I hope you enjoy it.

(the best part is: I only do about 8 bits and they're short)

The last Monday of the 9th month. Where has the year gone?
It's a nice show, this week. Some interesting birthdays and great tunes.

I'm still purging some tunes from the master playlist.
The Techie Gnome is doing the hard part, digging through the hard drive putting stuff to sleep. It's getting there and we have far fewer "groove killers".

A thank you and happy birthday to Ike Bowers.
He helped with this weeks show by giving me 5 of his favorite songs.
A couple had me searching but I got all of them!
For those of you who don't know, Ike's a former member of The DelChords and a member of Class of 60 Somethin'.
The tunes he picked took me back a lot of years and brought back some great memories.
I hope they do the same for you.

I'm getting ready for vacation in three weeks..........I need my ocean fix.

"No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick."

I don't normally let my personal feelings or politics enter this blog. I don't think most of the readers come here to listen to me rant and rave, they simply want to know what's coming on this weeks' show. That being said, the opening line speaks volumes on what is a serious problem in the United States of America.

For all the arguments about "we can't afford this", let me remind you that we spent 12 Billion dollars a month on an unjustified war in Iraq. Think about that. We can go into debt to kill but we can't spend money to improve life in our own country?

If one of your congressmen or senators are helping block the health care and health insurance reform we need, I ask you to write them. Object to their actions and to the stranglehold the health insurance companies have on this country.

As Wilford Brimley said about something else; "It's the right thing to do."
