Somewhere in that pile is my car!
I really dislike snow, especially heavy, wet, snow.

It's been a busy weekend. I have muscles aching from the snow blower.
Muscles I'd forgotten I owned.





The show is pretty neat....several b'days and some great music.
I can even stand the sound of me.....almost.

Oh, and a very special birthday wish to a wonderful young lady.

: A heterogeneous mixture, a jumble, i.e.: A hodgepodge of styles

That kind of describes tonight’s show. Not that it doesn’t have a certain flow.
It has the same flow all good music does.

There aren’t a lot of birthday guests for this show. This means I get to wander around in the vault and play some old favorites, some tunes you may not have heard before and stretch the music horizon, just a bit.

I have some be-bop, a bit of blues, beach music and sweet soul. Now, some of this stuff will go back in the vault and may never be played on FNST, again. That’s the joy of the weekly Monday show. It always has one or two surprises.

This week has been a bit slow for listeners, but we did pick up a couple of new members on the facebook page, which is always good news. If anyone is having problems getting the station please drop me a note. We’ll try and talk you through the set up.

Next week is March 1st! Warmer weather is on the way………yippee ki yi yay!!!!

Let me see...........couple of things, this week.

First, welcome to the new members of FNST's facebook page. It's great to see everybody and be able to put faces with the listener ISP's.

This week we had people groovin' on FNST in England, Peru, Holland, Saudi Arabia and Australia. Now, when you add in the States and Canada, this is just neat.

Speaking of Holland, my friend George turned me on to a couple of Dutch artists.
Gare Du Nord is jazzy and just cooks. Kim Hoorweg is a 16 year old with far more soul than one would think possible in a girl surrounded by windmills and tulips.
I think you'll enjoy both songs on this show.

For those of you who spend hours on youtube, there's someone you should stop by and say hello to. "themagmen" hasn't posted any music, I think the rest of us have posted most of the recordings. Look him up and thank Dave Bupp for the hours of music he and the rest of the guys have given us. It's not every day we get to say thank you, to the artist, directly.

Y'all know what an earworm is?
That tune you get stuck in your head, sometimes for days?
I've had one since Friday morning. Now, it's not a bad thing.
As earworms go, this beats hell out of "Sugar Sugar" or "It's A Small World".
The tune is "Here I'll Stay".
When I was about 14 my mother bought me a Christmas present.
Bobby Darin's "For Teenagers Only".
I think she was tired of the Do-Wop and R&B I insisted on buying.
Anyway, there were two songs on that album I enjoyed.
"Lucky Old Sun" and "Here I'll Stay".
I just searched Rhapsody and while Sammy Davis, Dean Martin and even Gerry Mulligan covered the tune, my definitive version is still Bobby Darin's.
Relax, I'm not going to play it......just thought I share a thought.

This week has one special birthday. A man I've known for over 45 years, Buddy King. Except for Eddie Kendrick, I admired Buddy's falsetto
more than anyones'. His strong leads and great backup singing helped make The Magnificent Men the multifaceted group they were. Even today his mid range is so damn powerful it's amazing. Buddy is also a good song writer. I rate a couple of his songs in my all time favorites.

There are a couple of requests (I wish there were more), a few "new to the station" songs and the usual suspects. Enjoy the show and if you happen to see Buddy, wish him a happy birthday on Tuesday.

Okay, I'm supposed to write something about todays show.

I like it. There's a bunch of songs and very little of me.
This, automatically, makes it a good show.

A few of our listeners get mentioned. Chi Chi, Duke, Ginger and Grace. There are a couple of "new" tunes and, as always, the birthday guests. Yes, PJ, there are horns..........

I don't plug products on this page, normally.
I will plug the music and artists we play, of course.
Today is an exception.
I'm curious, what type of speakers you're using to listen to FNST Radio? If you are using the factory "built-ins" for either a desk top or laptop, man, are you missing out.

I have a pair of speakers I actually bought for my laptop.
"Traveling Speakers" if you will. They go on every road trip. They're Bose Companion 2's and for my money, there is nothing out there that will compete in the price range. List price is $99.00 but if you have a BJ's or Sam's Club near you, it'll be cheaper. You can also do the Google/Amazon thing and shop around. I promise you won't be sorry purchasing these, unlike the 5 or 6 other sets of speakers I have lying around the shop......

Next week begins the shortest and cruelest month. Be grateful February only has 28 days. Three more days of that cold and snow would drive me crazy.

With the tremendous human tragedy being played out in Haiti and Teddy Pendergrass' death, last Wednesday, I'm not in an "up" mood.

If you can find a way to contribute to the Haitian relief effort, please do so.
$10.00 to the Red Cross may mean skipping a lunch at the local diner for us, but it may mean the difference between life and death for the people on that island.
We may be in a recession but we aren't suffering with unemployment at 70% and a staggering 50% illiteracy rate. Watching the news footage from Haiti is heartbreaking.
