MARCH 31 SHOW

This show has been a joy
to put together. Not only
for the music but, because it's
a birthday week for three of my favorite
artists.

Marvin Gaye, Major Lance and my friend, Dave Bupp.
While I did have the opportunity to meet the first two men, I have
had the pleasure of knowing Dave for more than four decades.
(yes, this means we're getting older)
As I've said many times, "there are singers and then there are "singers"."

Dave falls into the latter group.
He's always been able to take anything he sang and make it his own.
It's a special gift.

Enjoy the show and please leave us a few thoughts on this blog.

  1. Being from Detroit, I've heard many so-called "singers". No doubt about it, Marvin Gaye and Major Lance are in the category of "real singers".

Dave Bupp, however, is in a category all by himself. Somehow I believe he could sing the Yellow Pages and The Master of Song could give it his soulful rendition.

I have never heard any male singer cover tunes the way he does. One example is "Everybody's Got A Home", a song first recorded by The Flamingos. Needless to say, Dave's rendition, in my humble opinion, is far better than the original. He makes that song all his own as he pours his heart into every note. It is chilling and heart-tugging as he vocally paints a very clear picture with every word he sings.

From "Maybe Baby" until this very day, I am grateful that I have had the pleasure of being exposed to his natural God-given talent.

Happy Birthday Dave. I wish you all the best life has to offer.
