June 30

It's the end of the first half of 2008. My goodness, time has flown.

Tonight's show features two artists, who happen to have birthdays this week. Paul Williams of The Temptations and Gene Chandler. I hope you enjoy the musical selections.

Rita Angelucci, of Class Act Featuring Rita, managed to break her leg while mowing the lawn. (don't ask)
Anyway, she's doing well and won't miss any gigs. If you wish to send her a note, you can reach her through
http://www.classact-rita@hotmail.com I'm sure she'd be happy to hear from y'all.

Have a great week, everybody. For most of us in the United States, it's only a four day work week!!!!!

June 23 2008

It's a fun show this week. Easy to put together because I love the music on it. Having music from three powerful writers; Doc Pomus, Eddie Floyd and Richard Rogers sure helps a show be souled out.

I mentioned on the show and I'll note it here. We know people are listening but we're not hearing from y'all. This can be a bit frustrating. We have this blog and our e-mail addy is on the front page. It would be nice to see some feedback.

It's about time for some fresh Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday shows. I'm working on them. If there's something you'd like to hear, let me know.

Take care of yourselves and each other

Hey, the show is ready at 5:40am, Sunday morning!! Sometimes, it's a good thing not being able to sleep.

We're doing a special re-broadcast of two tribute shows, this Wednesday. Curtis Mayfield and Smokey Robinson. It doesn't get much better than that.

Beginning at 2:00pm edt, the shows will run back to back with a rebroadcast beginning at 7:00pm edt.
In other words, you can listen to 10, yes I said 10, hours of the best soul music ever!!!

Enjoy tonight's and be sure to join us on Wednesday.

June 2 & June 3, 2008

As I write this it's only 8:00am on Sunday, June 1. In other words, I'm early, for a change.

Monday's show is neat. Our usual history timeline, birthdays and a few songs you may not have heard. We hope you enjoy them.

Tuesday, June 3 , is a special 3 hour show. Curtis Mayfield's music. It doesn't get better than this, people.
It's long on music and short on me talking. (hold the applause) There is a great biography of Curtis, written by Peter Burns, People Never Give Up: Curtis Mayfield . You can get it at Amazon.com. There is also a new, May 2008, release of The Impressions on DVD. Movin' On Up: The Music and The Message of Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions is also available at amazon.com and they do a far better job of telling the story than I can.

This is a special birthday week for those of us who are fans of The Magnificent Men. Friday, June 6, is Bob Angelucci's birthday. As Dave Bupp says when he introduces the group, now, "The Magnificent Man, Bob Angelucci". Truer words can't be spoken. Bob's drive, vision and personality shaped TMM just as he shaped Class Act featuring Rita. Without "Puff" , none of this would have been possible. I'm proud to know him as a musician and more proud to call him friend.

Have a great week, everybody. The request line is open and so are the comment pages for the blog.
