July 6, 2009

I hope everyone has (had) a safe and fun holiday weekend. There are some listeners celebrating the 4th in Great Britain. as well. It seems they still think it was a good idea to get rid of us.

Some sad news, this past week. Fayette Pinkney of The Three Degrees died on June 27th.
A Philly girl, she had a terrific voice. Fayette did a lot of back-up work as well and she can be heard on a lot of the Gamble-Huff stuff from the 70's.

This week's show has Darrow Fletcher, Gene Chandler, Darrell Banks and Custer's Last Band among others. It was neat tracking down the music, as always. There's more on the way, I found a lot more cd's to buy. (Hey, MasterCard loves me)

I'd also like to thank Craig and the staff at recordsbymail.com for their tremendous job of searching out and supplying all of us with mint 45's and LP's. When I get done searching the "compilations" and "best of " things it's always a neat idea to look at Craig's site and see if they have that "missing" single.

Have great week, everybody. Thank you for listening to FNST.

Oh, remember July 15th is "Request Night". Cut off for e-mails is July 11th, so you still have time to help put a show together.

PD
