June 14 2010

Marvin Isley (August 18, 1953 – June 6, 2010)

Not the greatest way to start another entry for FNST Radio.
Loss seems to come in like a wave and this year it's been a big one.

Last week's show provoked a lot of comment and I have to say it was nice actually getting notes from listeners. I listened to the show, not something I normally do, and was damn near blown away. If I could do that well every week I'd start trying to land a real radio job! Of course finding a program director who'd let me play all this stuff would be difficult. I can hear it now.

"What are you doing? That's not commercial! How are we going to sell air time with this?"

FNST Radio isn't commercial. We don't have to answer to sponsors or chart companies. Our responsibility is to present great music in a format that allows the listener to enjoy the songs.
If my input about the artists and some personal memories can add to someone's understanding and pleasure that's even better.

Enjoy this week's show with The O'Jays, Gladys Knight, CWB, The Magnificent Men, Rhonda McDaniel and many more. It's what we're all about.

  2. Hi Bill, welcome to FNST Radio. Thank you for the kind words for TMM and us. I know "The Professor", Dave Bupp (the lead singer for The Mag Men) reads the blog and I'm sure he'll pass your words along.

  7. Another fine job pat on the back for you, my friend and thanks for Brenda & The Tabulations. On an up coming segment, how about "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Isaac Hayes?

Periodically every radio station needs to read it's statement of principles to the listeners. With that in mind, here's a request for "Little Woman" by Bobby Sherman.

  8. Al, I can certainly work "Never Can Say Goodbye" into the show. As far as Bobby Sherman is concerned........can you hear the sound of the crumpled emai hitting the trash can? I knew you could. LOL.....
