Do I remember what this show is about? (this is what happens when you're doing 4 weeks at a time, birthdays, new music, bad puns, etc.)
Oh yeah! R&B 101 is in session for a couple of artists, The Dells and Eddie Floyd.
Anybody remember "Hey Leroy!" ? The cat's name is Jimmy Castor and what I didn't know is he'd been around for years. He's actually a sax player and did a great "breathy" solo on a song called "Rinky Dink". Pretty cool, huh?
There's my tribute to one of the all time dumba** military ventures. A bit of information on The Falcons and new tunes by Garland Green and British singer Ruby Turner.
Of course we'll visit the beach and a few other stops. All in all, I enjoyed putting the show together and I hope y'all like the 2 hours.
Has anybody else been trapped by the thing going on in the Gulf of Mexico? Try as I might, I can't stop watching. I'm angry. At BP for their endless lies and bad prep work but also at the people within the United States government who didn't do the job they were paid to do.
The news has been about the states along the Gulf but what about all the other countries exposed to this mess? I'm not sure we'll ever see the environment back as it was. Not in my lifetime, for sure. It's a fine mess we're leaving for our children and grandchildren.
We're getting close to the 4th of July long weekend. If you're going to be traveling, please be careful and stay safe.
Until next week. Take care of yourselves.................and each other.

Chuck:
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your website and music. We're very close in tastes. Tower of Power, Bloodstone, Sam and Dave, EW and F are on my CD player in my car right now.
I left York for U of Louisville Law School in '72 and am now happy in the horse business in Kentucky.
In Louisville I've become fond of 2 artists:
1) Tommy "Cosmo" Cosdon of Cosmo and the Counts. His classic is "Soft and Pretty" also check out "Small Town Gossip". His story is similar to so many others..."If he were black he'd have been a star." Be that as it may, I think he's good as well as a friend from the horse business.
2) The Monarchs story is similar to the Mag Men. "This Old Heart" and their signature "Look Homeward Angel" are my favorites.
All should be on You Tube.
Keep up the good work. I'm gonna make a concerted effort to get the gist of your Monday shows this week.
