I like this show! As we head into the "summer" holiday, in the US, there's beach music and soul. There's some interesting R&B 101 and even a couple of new tunes.
What helps, even more, is having listeners comment and send emails. It's taking far longer than I ever thought it would, but the listener base is growing. This past week FNST even made an inroad to New Zealand. Hi Jay, welcome to our corner of the universe.
As someone, who shall remain nameless, once said. "If you like us, tell your friends about us. If you don't like us, keep your mouth shut and let your friends find out for themselves." ROFL. Anyway, thanks to all of you who are spreading the word.
This week is Paul Williams, of The Temptations, birthday so there are a couple of tunes featuring the original lead voice of the Tempts and a great lead cut by Flo Ballard with The Supremes.
I think you'll like the rest of the show, as well.
In the meantime, I'd ask you to pray, just a little, for the people and environment being destroyed by corporate greed in the Gulf as well as those millions of people who have lost their unemployment benefits due to politics and positioning for the November elections. With 1 job available for every 6 people who are looking, it seems to me we should be thinking about how to keep a roof over people's heads and food on the table not grandstanding for the 24/7 news cycles. Just one man's opinion but I do vote.
Have a great week and a safe holiday.

Now that you've exposed me to great songs written by Buddy King and sung by Jere Hetrick, can you give me some background as to who he was, who he sang with, etc.
ReplyDeleteGreat show again!!
ReplyDeleteBill, yes I can and will, shortly.
ReplyDeleteI will tell you Jere was the best blue eyed soul singer there ever was.
BTW, that's not just my opinion. It's shared by just about all of us who knew and/or worked with him.
I'm trying to collect a few tapes to do an entire show about Jere.
Lesley, thank you
