It's amazing what one can see, just driving down a highway.
In this case, Military Highway in Chesapeake, Virginia.
William Deal and Ammon Tharp formed "The Rhondels" in 1965. Playing the clubs and school dances in Virginia and North Carolina they honed their craft and when opportunity came, in 1969, they were able to take advantage of it.
The Rhondel's cover of a Maurice Williams tune took them national. "May I" done with a polka beat rose to #39 and led to four more songs on the national charts.
Sadly, William Deal passed away in 2003 but he did leave a legacy of Blue Eyed Soul and Beach Music.
Enjoy tonight's show. There's some good music.
